Cor­po­rate Social Respon­si­bil­i­ty (CSR) plays an impor­tant role for more and more com­pa­nies. CSR is char­ac­ter­ized by the inter­play of eco­log­i­cal, social and eth­i­cal aspects. Mean­while, a clear com­mit­ment in this area is a rel­e­vant fac­tor for new busi­ness rela­tion­ships. Thus, busi­ness part­ners must not only present their sus­tain­able actions with­in the frame­work of CSR, but also, for exam­ple, pay atten­tion to com­pli­ance with eth­i­cal stan­dards along their sup­ply chain, their social com­mit­ment in their region or the work­ing con­di­tions for their employees.

We at MAGNESIA are address­ing this chal­lenge. For already quite a while now, we have been work­ing in a resource-sav­ing man­ner through an almost paper-free admin­is­tra­tion, the use of green elec­tric­i­ty through­out the com­pa­ny and the changeover of the com­pa­ny fleet to e‑vehicles. Fur­ther­more, we sup­port our employ­ees in get­ting to work by bike (JobRad®). And our busi­ness trips are large­ly CO2 neu­tral thanks to the Green­perk com­pen­sa­tion ser­vice of our trav­el plat­form Trav­elperk. We are active­ly involved in the Rudolf & Renate Sei­del Foun­da­tion for the musi­cal pro­mo­tion of young peo­ple. And we keep in con­tact with local and nation­al char­i­ta­ble orga­ni­za­tions and col­lect dona­tions for them.

EcoVadis Sustainability Rating

To quan­ti­fy this com­mit­ment objec­tive­ly, we have now gone one step fur­ther: we have under­gone an assess­ment by Eco­Vadis, the world’s largest provider of sus­tain­abil­i­ty rat­ings for com­pa­nies. The efforts of our CSR team have now been reward­ed. With an over­all score of 57, MAGNESIA was award­ed the sil­ver Eco­Vadis seal in its very first assess­ment. This means that we achieved a high­er rat­ing than 73% of all com­pa­nies par­tic­i­pat­ing in EcoVadis.

For the eval­u­a­tion process, infor­ma­tion had to be sub­mit­ted on var­i­ous areas. Thus, our CSR team was avail­able to answer ques­tions regard­ing the fol­low­ing topics:

We are aware of our respon­si­bil­i­ty with­in soci­ety. We are immense­ly pleased and proud that we received the sil­ver seal in our first assess­ment. This rat­ing shows that we are on the right track and well posi­tioned for our path to a sus­tain­able cor­po­rate future.

At the same time, we are tak­ing the assess­ment as an oppor­tu­ni­ty to fur­ther expand our social respon­si­bil­i­ty and ini­ti­ate addi­tion­al CSR mea­sures in the near future.

And yet anoth­er step has been suc­cess­ful­ly tak­en: MAGNESIA received the FaMi seal (short for fam­i­ly seal). This kind of cer­ti­fi­ca­tion is award­ed to com­pa­nies and insti­tu­tions that offer a fam­i­ly-con­scious work­ing envi­ron­ment and active­ly and cre­ative­ly sup­port their employ­ees in bal­anc­ing fam­i­ly and career.

We are also very pleased to receive this award. “A fam­i­ly-friend­ly cor­po­rate pol­i­cy is impor­tant. In the chal­leng­ing times of the last two years, we have man­aged to offer our employ­ees flex­i­ble work­ing mod­els,” says Nadine Knels, Head of Human Resources. All employ­ees can work from their home offices with­out any restric­tions. The tech­ni­cal infra­struc­ture for this was put in place quick­ly and with­out much bureau­cra­cy. But flex­itime, trust-based work­ing hours, work­ing from abroad and much more are also pos­si­ble at MAGNESIA. “Our employ­ees are impor­tant to us. We want to offer them the best pos­si­ble work-life bal­ance. The fact that we also receive an award for this makes us all the more pleased,” Nadine Knels continues.
