Arbor Day
MAGNESIA plants 101 trees
On April 25th, it’s Arbor Day! This day presents a great opportunity to appreciate the significance of trees for our ecosystem and to emphasize the need for environmental protection. Arbor Day reminds us of how crucial trees are for our lives. They produce oxygen, help combat climate change, and provide habitats for countless species. Even in our leisure time, trees are invaluable, serving as backdrops for relaxing strolls, thrilling outdoor activities, and simple fun in nature with the whole family.
This year, MAGNESIA has launched a special initiative to underscore the importance of Arbor Day while also expressing gratitude to participants of our 2023 annual customer satisfaction survey. As a thank you for your survey participation, we’ve been able to plant 101 trees in Hahnheide, near Trittau, in collaboration with the organization iplantatree®. We’re delighted that, through your tremendous support, we’ve been able to contribute to reforestation and environmental conservation. Together, we’ve taken once again a step towards ensuring that our forests remain preserved for future generations.
However, we were not only pleased about your participation in the survey, but also about the results achieved. Once again, we were able to improve in all areas compared to the previous year and have more than achieved the target we set ourselves. The ratings ranged in the area of “good” to “very good”. We received special praise for our customer and service-oriented work. The good availability of materials and the quick advice from the teams were once again particularly emphasized. We are very pleased about the great feedback. But of course we will continue to work on ourselves in order to continuously improve in the future.
Facts about Arbor Day
Arbor Day traces back to the efforts of American journalist Julius Sterling Morton, who submitted an “Arbor Day Resolution” to the Nebraska government in 1872. Within 20 years, this day was adopted across the entire United States. Traditionally celebrated on April 10th first, this day involves tree planting activities.
The German “Tag des Baumes” was first observed on April 25th, 1952. The then Federal President Theodor Heuss and the President of the ‘Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald’ (German Forest Protection Association), Federal Minister Robert Lehr, planted a maple tree in the ‘Hofgarten’ park in Bonn. Arbor Day is commemorated every April with ceremonial events, aiming to keep the importance of forests for humanity and the economy in focus.
