Arbor Day
MAGNESIA plants 105 trees
On 25 April, we celebrate Arbor Day! This day reminds us how indispensable trees are for our ecosystem and how important their protection must be to us all. Trees are life-givers in many ways: they produce the oxygen we need to live. They provide shelter and habitat for countless animal and plant species. And we all enjoy the moments of peace and relaxation during a long walk through the forest.
We at MAGNESIA are delighted to continue a wonderful tradition together with our customers this year. Again, we could donate 105 trees to the non-profit organization iplantatree®, which will plant them in our name. A big “Thank You” goes to our customers who actively supported us in this endeavor. As part of our customer satisfaction survey, we promised to donate a tree for every completed response form — 105 trees in total. Together with you, we are thus making a contribution to reforestation and environmental protection in Germany. After all, we want our forests to be preserved for future generations.
The results of the survey were again very positive this year. We are delighted to have received such great feedback thanks to the constant optimization of our processes, the stringent expansion of our customer- and service-oriented services and the sound advice we provide in the area of product development. And of course this feedback will be a motivator for further improvements.
What is the meaning of ‘Arbor Day’?
The origin of ‘Arbor Day’ lies in the efforts of the American journalist Julius Sterling Morton. In 1872, he submitted an application to the Nebraska government for the introduction of an ‘Arbor Day’. Within two decades, this day was established throughout the USA. Traditionally, tree planting took place on this day, which originally fell on 10 April.
In Germany, ‘Arbor Day’ was first celebrated on 25 April 1952. The then Federal President Theodor Heuss and the President of the German Forest Protection Association, Federal Minister Robert Lehr, planted a maple tree in Bonn’s Hofgarten. Every year in April, this day is celebrated with festivities to raise awareness of the importance of the trees for people and the economy.
