Magnesium – a vital mineral

Interview in the magazin “Vitalstoffe”

For the September issue of the magazine “Vitalstoffe”, Dr. Sonja John, Head of Product and Application Management at MAGNESIA, and Katrin Schultz, Business Development Manager at MAGNESIA, gave an informative interview on the subject of minerals. The focus was on highly soluble magnesium oxide and its many positive effects.

Magnesium is essential for numerous metabolic processes and the function of the brain, heart and skeletal muscles. It is a co-factor for many enzymes that regulate biochemical processes such as energy metabolism, protein synthesis and blood sugar levels. However, the fact is that many people consume less magnesium than recommended, which can lead to deficiency symptoms such as muscle weakness and cramps.

Sonja John emphasized in this context: “Magnesium oxide has a positive effect on mental stability and of course also on the muscles and nerves.” She also emphasized the importance of magnesium oxide in food supplements for general health. Katrin Schultz added that a needs-based magnesium supply is essential to avoid symptoms such as neuromuscular dysfunction and muscle cramps. She also explained the different dosage forms of magnesium that can be chosen according to need and preference.

The magazine Vitalstoffe is a German-language trade journal that deals comprehensively with the raw materials and active ingredients in food supplements. It reports on the production and mixing of raw materials and their effects on human health. The focus is on scientifically sound information and studies. Vitalstoffe is published by Dr. Harnisch Verlag and appears quarterly. The target group includes suppliers of food supplements, marketers, contract manufacturers, raw material manufacturers, doctors, nutrition specialists and pharmacists.
