Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plays an important role for more and more companies. CSR is characterized by the interplay of ecological, social and ethical aspects. Meanwhile, a clear commitment in this area is a relevant factor for new business relationships. Thus, business partners must not only present their sustainable actions within the framework of CSR, but also, for example, pay attention to compliance with ethical standards along their supply chain, their social commitment in their region or the working conditions for their employees.

We at MAGNESIA are addressing this challenge. For already quite a while now, we have been working in a resource-saving manner through an almost paper-free administration, the use of green electricity throughout the company and the changeover of the company fleet to e-vehicles. Furthermore, we support our employees in getting to work by bike (JobRad®). And our business trips are largely CO2 neutral thanks to the Greenperk compensation service of our travel platform Travelperk. We are actively involved in the Rudolf & Renate Seidel Foundation for the musical promotion of young people. And we keep in contact with local and national charitable organizations and collect donations for them.

EcoVadis Sustainability Rating

To quantify this commitment objectively, we have now gone one step further: we have undergone an assessment by EcoVadis, the world's largest provider of sustainability ratings for companies. The efforts of our CSR team have now been rewarded. With an overall score of 57, MAGNESIA was awarded the silver EcoVadis seal in its very first assessment. This means that we achieved a higher rating than 73% of all companies participating in EcoVadis.

For the evaluation process, information had to be submitted on various areas. Thus, our CSR team was available to answer questions regarding the following topics:

  • Environmental policy of the company
  • Ethics
  • Labor and human rights (diversity, equality & inclusion)
  • Sustainable procurement

We are aware of our responsibility within society. We are immensely pleased and proud that we received the silver seal in our first assessment. This rating shows that we are on the right track and well positioned for our path to a sustainable corporate future.

At the same time, we are taking the assessment as an opportunity to further expand our social responsibility and initiate additional CSR measures in the near future.

MAGNESIA is a family-friendly company

And yet another step has been successfully taken: MAGNESIA received the FaMi seal (short for family seal). This kind of certification is awarded to companies and institutions that offer a family-conscious working environment and actively and creatively support their employees in balancing family and career.

We are also very pleased to receive this award. "A family-friendly corporate policy is important. In the challenging times of the last two years, we have managed to offer our employees flexible working models," says Nadine Knels, Head of Human Resources. All employees can work from their home offices without any restrictions. The technical infrastructure for this was put in place quickly and without much bureaucracy. But flexitime, trust-based working hours, working from abroad and much more are also possible at MAGNESIA. "Our employees are important to us. We want to offer them the best possible work-life balance. The fact that we also receive an award for this makes us all the more pleased," Nadine Knels continues.
