    • Cal­ci­um car­bon­ate is used as an antacid against heart­burn and acid regur­gi­ta­tion. It neu­tral­izes stom­ach acid and serves as a phos­phate binder in cas­es of hyper­phos­phataemia.     Magnesium hydroxide as an antacid and laxative

      Description

      • Mag­ne­sium hydrox­ide is used as an antacid and lax­a­tive. It neu­tral­izes excess stom­ach acid, relieves heart­burn and stom­ach pain and pro­motes intesti­nal tran­sit. In high­er dos­es, it acts as an osmot­ic lax­a­tive, stim­u­lat­ing the secre­tion of flu­id and intesti­nal motility.

        Magnesium stearate in tablet production

          Description

          • Mag­ne­sium stearate is an impor­tant excip­i­ent in tablet pro­duc­tion. It serves as a lubri­cant that improves glid­ing prop­er­ties and reduces fric­tion and adhe­sion. This pre­vents the pow­der from stick­ing to the machines, such as the punch dur­ing tablet­ing. It improves the flowa­bil­i­ty of the pow­der and facil­i­tates com­pres­sion into tablets. As a hydropho­bic excip­i­ent, it con­tributes to the sta­bil­i­ty and homo­gene­ity of tablets.

          Talcum as filler, release agent, binder and lubricant

              Description

              • Tal­cum is used in phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal prod­ucts as a filler, release agent, binder and lubri­cant. It improves the pro­cess­ing prop­er­ties of tablets and cap­sules by reduc­ing fric­tion and increas­ing flowa­bil­i­ty. It also serves as a base for pow­ders and pre­vents skin irritation.

              Yes, Mag­ne­sia has gran­u­lat­ed prod­ucts. These prod­ucts are sold under the name Mag­Gran and are com­pact­ed min­er­al salt agglom­er­ates. There are two ver­sions of these products:

              Cal­ci­um and mag­ne­sium car­bon­ate are safe alter­na­tives to TiO2 in for­mu­la­tions when used as whiten­ing agents.
